John Percival Memorial Award 2025

Ajit Jacob, MCA Chief Examiner presented this year’s award to the deserving winner at this year’s WA Dinner at Seawork.

The annual award for the best [small commercial vessel] industry trainee is presented in honour of John Percival. Founder of Hoylake Sailing School/JPMA, Chairman of the Workboat Association Training Workgroup and Stalwart of the Association. John sadly passed away in 2014 and the award has been presented ever since.

A judging panel is selected at random from within the membership, this years panel (together with CEO Kerrie Forster) consisted of:

Boat Owner: Stuart Richardson, Engineering Manager at Njord Offshore.

Corporate: Louise Hall, Director of Loss Prevention, Corporate Responsibility and Marketing at the Ship Owners P&I Club

Individual: Zander Simpson, Self employed Marine Surveyor and Maritime Consultant

This year’s winner was selected for their exemplary dedication and passion for their work. Overcoming extreme adversity and providing their class mates, trainers and colleagues with a positive energy and contagious charisma.
