This 'Use of Workboats for Towage -Good Practice Guide' has been produced by NWA members actively involved in towage. The intent is in part to give guidance to underpin the principles of towage which are contained in the revised Workboat Code due to be published shortly by the MCA, as well as answering the recommendation put on the NWA by the MAIB in their report of the investigation into the girting of the line boat /tug "Asterix" in 2015.
It is intended that this will remain a live document and we hope to add some line diagrams in the near future. Should you have any comments with regard to this guide - please send them to;- email@example.com for consideration.
We are pleased to welcome Commercial Rib Charter and Svensk Sjoentreprenad AB, the NWA’s newest members, on board. Commercial Rib Charter (pictured bottom) became the NWA’s 80th member, marking a doubling in the membership numbers since 2011.
In our latest member profile, Josh Metcalfe, Operations Director at Carmet Tug Company, discusses the family history of the company, future plans for the business, and his new role on the NWA Committee.
Associate NWA member John Percival Marine Associates (JPMA), which is well-known for its workboat crew training courses, has been presented with an award by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
