This 'Use of Workboats for Towage -Good Practice Guide' has been produced by NWA members actively involved in towage. The intent is in part to give guidance to underpin the principles of towage which are contained in the revised Workboat Code due to be published shortly by the MCA, as well as answering the recommendation put on the NWA by the MAIB in their report of the investigation into the girting of the line boat /tug "Asterix" in 2015.
It is intended that this will remain a live document and we hope to add some line diagrams in the near future. Should you have any comments with regard to this guide - please send them to;- firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration.
We are pleased to announce that, at long last, we have secured acceptance for our workboat crewmember apprenticeship in the new ‘Trailblazer’ format. This format attracts a higher level of government funding and will enable you to receive additional funding to train new crews for our industry in the future.
Yvonne Orr, Nick Allen and Mark Ranson met MCA representatives last month to express disquiet at how things were to be taken forward with regard to the acceptance of the <200GT Masters Certificate of Competence (CoC) in German waters.
We can confirm the Annual Dinner and AGM will once again be held at the Lakeside Hotel, Windermere on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th January, following a similar format to last year. Follow the link below for room pricing and registration details.
