On Wednesday 7th November we hold our NWA Safety Forum at Hoylake Sailing School in Wirral.
Here is the draft agenda for the NWA Safety Forum, to be held at
Hoylake Sailing School
As you will see from the attached draft agenda, the items that we will be discussing include the revised workboat code, the MAIB Digest and the revision of OESV guidelines.
We intend the event to encourage as much discussion on these and other relevant topics. We will also have our ‘Safety Pause’ where we ask everyone to put their pens down, and have an ‘open hands’ discussion of any recent incidents.
To sign up for the event, please send Mark Ranson the names of those who would like to attend. Numbers are limited, so we will accept attendees on a first come, first served basis.
The MCA have finally published and uploaded the on-line version of the Revised Workboat Code on the Gov.UK website. It can be found in the Small Craft Codes section under Statutory Guidance and is titled; "The Workboat Code, Edition 2".
Keen observers of the MCA website will have noted recent revisions to and the re-issuing of their guidance on 3 important legal areas of risk assessment.
This month we spoke to Damian Crowley, Managing Director of MARITAS (Maritime Training and Assessment Services) LTD, Chair of the National Workboat Association’s Training Group and a Fellow of the Nautical Institute.
