The Merchant Navy Training Board’s (MNTB) Careers at Sea campaign is looking for support from vessel operators for its “Tidal Tuesday” initiative, taking place across the country during National Careers Week (5th – 10th March).
Tidal Tuesday (6th March) will aim to inform schools, colleges and youth groups across the UK of the opportunities at sea available to young people and the lifelong career prospects offered by the maritime industry.
Firms involved in the sector can participate the event by conducting a vessel or office tour, taking part at a local careers fair, giving a talk or simply raising awareness via social media.
We are pleased to confirm that the final assessment criteria for the revised Workboat Apprenticeship has now been agreed by the IfA and subsequently published on their website.
Following the MCA's decision to allow holders of the Master <500GT Workboat CoC or Class 1 Fishing CoC to be issued with a full STCW <500GT Master, Near Coastal CoC upon completion of a combined Cargo and Stability module, please be advised that the Scottish Maritime Academy are running this module in August.
In this month’s member profile, we speak to Anna Percival-Harris, Managing Director at JPMA / Hoylake Sailing School Ltd., about swapping a career onstage for one at sea, opportunities for workboats in offshore wind, and the current skills landscape in the industry.
