Following comments from the industry about the lack of clarity on the application of MGN 490 (M) & 491(M) on the MLC substantial equivalence for crew accommodation below the waterline on workboats up to 500GT, the MCA has reviewed the two notices and rearranged the material in three notices as follows:
- MGN on MLC inspections of Coded vessels
- MGN on MLC substantial equivalent for crew accommodation below the waterline of vessels of 200GT to 500GT
- MGN on MLC substantial equivalent for crew accommodation on vessels under 200GT
This avoids duplication and removes the confusion between the application to Coded and non-Coded vessels.
There are no substantive changes but the MCA is inviting comment on these revised documents. Please submit any comments to the Secretary by 15th August.
