German CoCs: Download the new Application Form

The BG Verkehr now requires all Masters of CTVs to possess a <500GT Master Near Coastal CoC to work in the German offshore wind industry.

The MCA has issued a Letter and an Application Form for Masters wishing to convert from either the <500GT Master Workboat CoC, or the Class 1 Fishing CoC.

The MCA has issued the application form MSF 4287 for Restricted CoC Conversion Routes, together with a letter outlining the requirements to convert from either the <500GT Master Workboat CoC, or the Class 1 Fishing CoC, to the <500GT Master Near Coastal CoC.

The <500GT Master Near Coastal CoC is the minimum CoC the BG Verkehr will now accept for Masters of CTVs in the German offshore wind industry.  If Masters in your company are looking to apply for this, please ensure they use the MSF 4287 form, and that they send in a copy of the MCA letter with the application.

As previously published, holders of the <500GT Master Workboat CoC will need to undertake the 'MCA Cargo Module' specified in the letter within 6 months of obtaining the <500GT Near Coastal CoC for it to remain valid.

The ‘MCA Cargo Module’ course is currently offered by a few Nautical Colleges, including Peterhead, although the MCA are in talks with another Training Provider to see if this can be made into an online module. We will advise if and when this is made available.

Holders of a Class 1 Fishing CoC will need to undertake both this ‘MCA Cargo Module’ and an additional Oral exam, as specified in the MCA letter.
